Realising additional customer benefits from smart meters

VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA – 8 February 2012 – Electricity distribution business SP AusNet is now recruiting customers for its home energy management trial using new technologies to help residents understand and manage their electricity use, which may help reduce energy bills

As part of the trial, up to 1000 participants in SP AusNet’s distribution network will be able to remotely monitor the energy consumption of appliances through a smart phone application, online portal and in-home display unit.

SP AusNet Director of Smart Networks John Theunissen said the introduction of smart meters in Victoria gives households many benefits including greater access to energy usage data, which may help residents reduce electricity costs.

“With the Government mandating smart meter installations throughout Victoria, we saw the opportunity to use available technologies to help households understand then manage their consumption and usage patterns as a lever to potentially reduce electricity costs,” Mr Theunissen said.

“So far we’ve had 20 employees trialling the new technologies and plan to recruit a further 150 SP AusNet customers in the next two months before offering more places by April 2012.

“Feedback from participants has been positive with many stating the technology and monitoring tools are simple to use and an effective way to learn and manage energy consumption,” he said.

For the trial, SP AusNet and its smart metering partner Landis+Gyr selected GreenWave Reality’s home energy management platform. Each household will receive a gateway, single and multi-outlet power boards and an in-home display unit. This enables the capability to record and transmit electricity consumption by appliance. Users can then remotely monitor and control these appliances by creating smart controls that allow scheduling
capabilities.

GreenWave Reality and Landis+Gyr are the chosen technology partners for SP AusNet’s home energy management program trial, providing expertise, knowledge and resources to best leverage how the technology is
being used by customers.

Willing participants in SP AusNet’s distribution area can register their interest to join the trial at the following portal:http://ihd-trial.webbinfomgmt.com. Participation is subject to separate terms and conditions.

Future trial developments may include the extension of services such as the control of smart thermostats, connected lighting and electric vehicle charging. The trial is expected to run for 12 months, finishing in early 2013.

For media enquiries please contact Jonathon Geddes 03 9483 0989 www.sp-ausnet.com.au

Partnership to Deliver Wide-Range of Intelligent Connected Lamps and Fixtures

IRVINE, CA and XIAMEN, CHINA–(Marketwire – October 27, 2011) – GreenWave Reality, a global innovator in the Smart Home Services market which includes Energy Management, Connected Lighting, and Home Monitoring, and Leedarson Lighting, a leading manufacturer of efficient lighting products, announced that they will be collaborate to offer a family of CFL and LED intelligent bulbs and fixtures supporting GreenWave Reality’s innovative, connected lighting solution. This solution allows consumers to have unprecedented control over their lighting, enabling them to reduce costs and improve their lifestyle. The innovative GreenWave Reality Connected Lighting Platform is a secure, standards-based solution providing consumers with applications that scale from the entry-level remote control up to advanced integration with motion sensors and smartphones. Leedarson has developed and will produce a wide-range of high-quality, intelligent CFL, LED lamps and fixtures applicable for multiple market segments. The combined solution is based on NXP Semiconductor’s GreenChip(tm) smart lighting technology, an IP-based JenNet-IP (6LowPAN based) networking software, that transforms energy-efficient light bulbs into intelligent, controllable devices making them part of the global Internet of Things.

GreenWave Reality has developed an industry-leading connected lighting platform that enables consumers to control their lighting within the home via remote control, smartphone applications or in-home sensors that detect changes in motion or lighting conditions, all without requiring any rewiring of the home. Consumers can start taking control of their lighting quickly and easily with just a few bulbs and the GreenWave Reality Lighting Remote Control. This touch-activated, handheld device allows consumers to turn lights on and off, or dim them at the touch of a finger. Simply screw in the bulbs and the remote control is ready to turn them on or off, or dim them, without requiring any setup. Consumers can increase the level of lighting control and convenience by adding the GreenWave Reality Lighting Gateway, and using their iPhones, iPads, Android devices or PCs for enhanced functionality either within the home or remotely over WiFi or 3G/4G networks. To realize the full power of the solution, consumers can employ advanced Smart Controls that enable them to control the turning on or off of lights or entire rooms either manually, tied to sensors or at pre-defined times. The result is that consumers can have complete control over their lighting using a range of devices and applications that help them save money and enjoy improved lifestyles.

By partnering with Leedarson Lighting, a leading manufacturer of energy-saving lighting products shipping more than 23 million top-quality CFL/LED lamps and fixtures each month, the GreenWave Reality solution will support a wide-range of energy-efficient, intelligent Leedarson CFL and LED bulbs including true replacement lamps for the following form factors: A60, R63, MR16, downlight, LED tubes and panels. Leedarson Lighting will offer these high-quality, cost-effective lamps and will be offering them to multiple bulb brands for wider distribution, including a line of GreenWave Reality branded bulbs. The GreenWave Reality connected lighting products and Leedarson intelligent lamps and fixtures will start shipping in the first quarter of 2012, with initial availability in Europe followed by Asia and North America. GreenWave Reality will continue to partner with leading bulb manufacturers to broaden support for their connected lighting platform in key global markets.

During the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair, held October 27-30, 2011, GreenWave Reality and Leedarson Lighting (Booth 1C-C16) will showcase the intelligent lighting solution running approximately 100 smart, connected bulbs.

Extends Home Energy Management Service to Include Smart Thermostats

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – (3th OCTOBER 2011	) –GreenWave Reality, a global innovator in the Smart Home Services market which includes Energy Management, Connected Lighting, and Home Monitoring services, announced today they have started a cooperation with Danfoss to extend their innovative Home Energy Management platform to support Danfoss Smart Thermostats. Danfoss is a leading manufacturer of controls for air-conditioning, heating, refrigeration, and motion systems. This collaboration gives consumers the ability to control the temperature of their homes by way of GreenWave Reality’s industry-leading interfaces running on PCs, tablets and smartphones.

In addition to monitoring and controlling the energy consumption of all electrical devices and connected lighting in the home, consumers can now use the GreenWave Reality solution to control the thermostats in the home to extend these energy savings to heating, the single largest energy consumer of most homes. The GreenWave Reality Energy Management Platform communicates with Danfoss smart thermostats using industry-standard Z-Wave® communications protocol. GreenWave Reality’s adherence to industry standards allows for a high level of interoperability with other devices and extensibility of the GreenWave Reality platform to include new solutions such as controlling the Danfoss Smart thermostats.

“Danfoss is a recognized innovation and market share leader in thermostat technology, making them an excellent choice for this partnership that extends the GreenWave Reality platform to control home heating,” said Greg Memo, CEO of GreenWave Reality. “By integrating the Danfoss smart thermostats, we are extending the reach of our platform by delivering more visibility and value to consumers.”

“Danfoss continues to extend our leadership position in smart thermostats. Being able to control these thermostats from a central user friendly platform, which can control more than the heating, makes the user experience even better. Bundle this with possibilities for remote control and monitoring and you have the possibility for added comfort and additional cost savings. It is just such a solution that Greenwave provides making it an excellent match,” added Danfoss KAM Jesper Kjeldsen.

The companies will be demonstrating this innovative solution at the Smart Homes Conference in Amsterdam, October 4th – 6th in the GreenWave Reality booth (#SH30) and the Danfoss booth.
