GreenWave Reality is looking to hire professionals with unmatched skill levels in the area of embedded firmware design.

Qualifications Candidates for this position must possess considerable knowledge and deep hands on experience on embedded system, excellent troubleshooting, and problem solving skills, excellent communications skills, and the ability to work with a hardware and software team to create a fully functional system.
Previous experience with electric metering and thorough knowledge of electric utility power system operation and or three phase networks is desirable, but not a prerequisite.
Proficient with firmware and software programming using C/C++ and assembly languages.
Must have a good understanding in modern computer architectures, and be proficient with commonly used algorithms and data structures.

Requirements:

BS/MS in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science, 4-7+ years of embedded system design and development experience.
Must possess considerable knowledge and real hands on experience on embedded system board level of design and development, such as booltoader/BIOS, HAL and different device driver development.
Must be familiar with basic knowledge of different microprocessor (such as ARM/MIPS/PowerPC) and 8 bit microcontroller system and related peripheral technologies (PCI, SPI, I2C, USB, etc).
Knowledge and experience with any of the following domains will be added advantages:

Embedded real time operating system (RTOS).
Linux and GNU development environment.
Wireless technologies (WiFi, Z-Wave, ZigBee
Internetworking and TCP/IP technologies
Knowledge of the issues involved with development and debugging of embedded real time systems.
Ability and desire to work in a fast paced team environment where you will interface regularly with electrical, back-end software, mechanical and system test engineers on system level design development.
Desire and ability to learn new tools, languages and design techniques
Ability to evaluate and make recommendation on cost control, reliability and manufacturability issues and maintains aggressive development schedules.
Familiarity with common test and debugging equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and JTAG debugger/emulator is also highly desired.
Excellent testing, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills
Excellent communications skills with the ability to convey technical concepts in business terms
The ability to work with cross functional teams to create a fully functional system

Must be fluently speaking, reading and writing English

Job description

Production of GreenWave products is handled from partners especially out of Asia. This is often complicated production of various embedded devices, which need to fit to customer requirements.

You will work in the development team in Denmark and work closely together with the hardware team in Singapore and the production partners. You will support the production flow of current products. You will also be responsible for startup a new Lighting product line.

Tasks relevant for the production engineer job:

Definition and documentation of production flow
Optimization of production with regards to quality and production efficiency
Develop tools and “filling station” to support production
Communication and collaboration with production partners to assure quality production according to the production flow

You should expect some travel activities, especially with start up of new production lines.

Qualifications

You have a relevant engineering degree in software or electronics and you have experience from similar positions in previous jobs.

The following requirements is a must:

Embedded software and hardware knowledge
All-round programming skills to be able to develop tools and filling stations for production
Fluent spoken and written English

The Danish development team has the main responsibility for the central home controller in GreenWave ecosystem. The team works in a very agile environment where all contribute to solve tasks in the middleware framework software stack. You will work together with the rest of the team to architect, specify, implement and test new features.

The team in Denmark works closely together with other development teams in Holland, Singapore, China and USA. The foreign teams have responsibility for other part of the system such as hardware, UI and backend.

SP AusNet Trial to Help Improve Home Energy Management

Realising additional customer benefits from smart meters

VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA – 8 February 2012 – Electricity distribution business SP AusNet is now recruiting customers for its home energy management trial using new technologies to help residents understand and manage their electricity use, which may help reduce energy bills

As part of the trial, up to 1000 participants in SP AusNet’s distribution network will be able to remotely monitor the energy consumption of appliances through a smart phone application, online portal and in-home display unit.

SP AusNet Director of Smart Networks John Theunissen said the introduction of smart meters in Victoria gives households many benefits including greater access to energy usage data, which may help residents reduce electricity costs.

“With the Government mandating smart meter installations throughout Victoria, we saw the opportunity to use available technologies to help households understand then manage their consumption and usage patterns as a lever to potentially reduce electricity costs,” Mr Theunissen said.

“So far we’ve had 20 employees trialling the new technologies and plan to recruit a further 150 SP AusNet customers in the next two months before offering more places by April 2012.

“Feedback from participants has been positive with many stating the technology and monitoring tools are simple to use and an effective way to learn and manage energy consumption,” he said.

For the trial, SP AusNet and its smart metering partner Landis+Gyr selected GreenWave Reality’s home energy management platform. Each household will receive a gateway, single and multi-outlet power boards and an in-home display unit. This enables the capability to record and transmit electricity consumption by appliance. Users can then remotely monitor and control these appliances by creating smart controls that allow scheduling
capabilities.

GreenWave Reality and Landis+Gyr are the chosen technology partners for SP AusNet’s home energy management program trial, providing expertise, knowledge and resources to best leverage how the technology is
being used by customers.

Willing participants in SP AusNet’s distribution area can register their interest to join the trial at the following portal:http://ihd-trial.webbinfomgmt.com. Participation is subject to separate terms and conditions.

Future trial developments may include the extension of services such as the control of smart thermostats, connected lighting and electric vehicle charging. The trial is expected to run for 12 months, finishing in early 2013.

Primary Responsibility:

Successful candidates will have responsibility for web application, mobile application, system and embedded software testing and test documentation. The candidate will interface with hardware, software and other engineering teams in carrying out both blackbox and whitebox testing activities.
