The GreenWave Reality Home Energy Management service provides robust monitoring and control of devices in the home. The initial installation typically includes a Gateway, intelligent power strips (PowerNodes), and integration with third-party smart thermostats. Consumers can extend conservation efforts and further simplify their lives by creating easy-to-configure Smart Controls that can be executed by the push of a button – or at scheduled times – to turn devices or entire rooms on or off.

GreenWave Reality’s focus on the consumer begins with a guided out-of-box experience that includes videos, an Energy Coach and a range of patented technologies that enable users to quickly get up and running on their own. After connecting the Gateway and plugging devices into the PowerNodes, the DeviceDNA feature automatically helps identify the type of each device for simple configuration of the system.

Consumer Engagement

In order to keep consumers engaged and motivated in their conservation efforts, GreenWave Reality has developed an Energy Coach. The Energy Coach personalizes energy conservation by guiding the user through the set-up process, helping the user create and manage budgets and making a series of recommendations to further energy savings. Consumers can access the Home Energy Management service for enhanced functionality over the Internet using a PC or smartphone. All of these features add up to provide consumers with a comprehensive energy management solution that delivers unparalleled ease of use and lifestyle improvements at an affordable price.

Energy Management Gateway

At the heart of the GreenWave Reality platform is the Energy Management Gateway. The Gateway is the hub that connects the various devices creating a Home Area Network (HAN) that can be monitored and controlled. The Gateway also connects to smart meters, PowerNodes, smart thermostats, the GreenWave Reality Meter Reader, the In-Home Display, and other wireless devices to increase savings. The Gateway is compact in size but has a powerful core processor and simultaneously supports different RF radios including ZigBee, Z-Wave and 6LowPAN, along with other wireless devices for future compatibility.

PowerNodes, Multi- or 1-Ports

The GreenWave Reality PowerNodes allow users to wirelessly connect their existing devices and appliances, making them smart, energy conscious and controllable. The PowerNodes come pre-configured to connect to the Gateway with minimal consumer set-up. The PowerNodes also feature an innovative color wheel to easily identify and manage the rooms where the devices are located. The PowerNodes are available in multi-port and single-port versions supporting many countries.
Smart Thermostats

The GreenWave Reality solution integrates leading third-party smart thermostats over a number of different wireless protocols making them smart and controllable. By utilizing GreenWave Reality’s Smart Controls, consumers can easily create automated schedules that will reduce heating and cooling usage, leading to one of the largest energy conservation opportunities in the home.

Completing the Solution

To complete the solution, GreenWave Reality offers a Meter Reader that transmits usage information from analog and digital gas and electric meters to the Gateway to provide overall home energy consumption. There is also an In-Home Display that allows consumers to view total electricity usage, real-time cost information, along with energy related alerts for the home. The system is also capable of managing solar panel installations within the home.
